The common name for ''N. pulcher'' is the daffodil cichlid. This species can reach a length of TL. It can also be found in the aquarium trade. ==Taxonomy and Phylogeny== Previously, it was believed that N. pulcher and N. brichardi were two distinct species. Now they are considered the same species, the only difference being that Neolamprologus brichardi has a black stripe running from its eye to its gill cover and a yellow spot just above it, both of which are absent in N. pulcher.
